How to Make Carrot Juice + Juicing Tips

Carrot juice is so easy to make and it's absolutely delicious to drink, thanks to the natural sugars found in carrots. I love this super simple carrot juice recipe because it's quick, easy, and I always have these ingredients in the fridge. Plus, these ingredients are inexpensive, even when you buy them organic.
I used to try to make these awesome-sounding juice recipes that had 5-6 fruits and vegetables in them, but it just got to be a) too expensive, b) too time-consuming, and c) too much to remember. SO, to solve this problem, I stick with this super-simple carrot juice recipe that has only 3 basic ingredients in it!
Why Juice Carrots?
You may be wondering WHY you should even drink carrot juice in the first place. Carrots have AMAZING health benefits, including remarkable anti-cancer properties. Carrots are excellent for reducing cholesterol, your risk of heart disease, and certain cancers (including colon cancer). They can even help to reduce signs of premature aging while also improving your vision.
In addition, carrots are incredible for the immune system, your skin, and your digestive system. Drink up!
How to Prep Your Juice
My mom and I both have the Breville Juice Foundation which we purchased on Amazon. My mom juices every single day, so her juicer receives some heavy usage and it lasted more than one year before she purchased a second juicer. I only juice a couple of times per week, and I have had my juicer for more than two years. It's still going strong!
To make this super simple carrot juice recipe, you only need 3 ingredients, a juicer, and an empty produce bag.
- Line the pulp catcher basket with a clean and empty produce bag. You may want to rinse the inside of the produce bag if you plan to reuse the pulp for later (see note below).
- If you bought organic carrots, simply scrub (or peel) the skin from them and chop off the ends. If you're using conventional (non-organic) carrots, I suggest peeling them and chopping off the ends.
- Wash the apple. I suggest using organic apples. If you're using the Breville Juice Foundation, you can put one whole apple through the chute. It'll core it for you and everything! Otherwise, you may want to core the apple and slice it in half before feeding it through the chute.
- Wash your cucumber and chop off the ends. You can feed the whole cucumber through the chute, no matter how big it is. I suggest buying organic cucumbers since cucumbers are part of the dirty dozen.
How to Make Carrot Juice
- Once your 3 veggies have been prepped and the catcher basket has been lined, turn the juicer onto the high setting, and begin feeding the veggies through the feeding chute.
- I juice the veggies slowly in this order: carrots, apple, cucumber.
- The juice should pour into the juice jug. I keep the juicer running for about 30 seconds after I'm done juicing to give all of the juice a chance to pour into the jug.
- If you notice any larger chunks in your catcher basket or if you didn't collect much juice in the juice jug, you can feed all of the pulp through the chute a second time. To make this easier, you can purchase a juicing funnel to place into the chute, to easily feed the pulp into.
Tips for Storing/Cooling Your Juice
- When done, I like to pour my juice into mason jars and then refrigerate for about an hour so it's nice and cool. You can even stick it in the freezer for faster results. Otherwise, the juice is delicious over ice or at room temperature as well.
- You should drink your juice that same day, if possible, or the juice will lose nutrients the longer it sits, even while refrigerated.
- Wash your juicer as soon as possible. It takes longer to clean the longer it sits out!
Note about reusing the pulp for later:
- Sometimes I like to save the juice pulp for later instead of throwing it in the trash. There's a lot of great fiber and nutrients that are removed during juicing, so it seems crazy to throw it all away each time!
- If you want to experiment with reusing your juice pulp, check out my Juice Pulp Recipes Pinterest Board. I like making homemade vegetable broth, smoothies, and even bread out of leftover juice pulp. Just tie up the produce bag and stick it in the freezer until you're ready to use it.
- If you do throw the pulp in the trash, I suggest taking it out to your dumpster. It doesn't take long to stink up the house. Yuck!
